Boil It Down
Take 52 Week #34: Paper
We still have 2 more weeks of summer holidays. So if this week’s theme was a Rorschach test, the word ‘paper’ resembles work/school too much. Touché.
Coffee filters are paper, right? That’s as academic as I am willing to get.So here is this morning’s coffee. I bought this precious tiny cappuccino cup in one of the shops in Nice’s Old Town on our anniversary trip. I looked at all kinds of gaudy little cups priced as high as 30€ for a cup and saucer, but I didn’t absolutely love any of them. Then I saw this darling set and I almost fainted when the shopkeeper told me it was 2€. I actually asked her “2€ for each piece?!” assuming there must be a catch. Even at 4€ I would have snatched it up, but for 2? I had it paid for before you could say “Vendu”.
As you can see on the right, despite being wrapped well, Air Canada made its mark on my purchase (which they have done before if you’ve read here for a while). But I’m convinced this quirks of souvenirs are part of the charm. If I had simply driven across town and safely transported it home, it wouldn’t be quite as precious or memorable.
