Playing With Light
Take 52 Week #39: Light
The warm, sunny days of summer have paled into rainy, autumn days in my part of the world. But my days are lit from within back in my Pre-K home.
After some uncertain months with layoffs, I was thrilled to get “the call” that I was returning to our class again this year. The job that was my dream job, my generous and extraordinary gift, was extended into another year. I am so blessed and excited to be back with my fabulous team and our wonderful little students.
Pre-K learning is play-based. And a classroom favourite is the light centre. An overhead projector, heaped with everything translucent – glass beads, bingo chips, see-through lego, even a clear pan of water – all make a beautiful sensory activity. One of my little friends was playing with a pile of pellucid objects, and her jewelled bracelet sparkled in the reflected light. All the shimmery things, with light shining through from below, made an eye-catching photograph.
Life is full of light when you spend it with people you love.
